Lucy Gossage second at Ironman New Zealand

The Ironman New Zealand was originally considered as a test after a prolonged illness and injury. She wasn´t really certain whether or not she would finish.

After a decent swimming (3.8 km) Lucy Gossage was in 12th place. During the subsequent cycling she rode better than ever, and set a course record over the 180 km. At second position she changed to the running part. Here, the outcome of the race should be decided. Due to an ankle injury, this discipline she could hardly train. So she ran "their thing" at the marathon. Kilometre per kilometre and slower than usual, but until the end and to the 2nd place!
