The Humanspeed Endurance Team rider started with an excellent swimming performance in Maui (Hawaii) and moved as a leading age grouper (leading German in the PRO category) into the race. In his special discipline, the bike, he could show his skills and extend his lead. On the subsequent Trailrun Lars Erik Fricke went to his limits, at the end he was only beaten by one athlete and took the title Vice World Champion.
