Again, Darya Domracheva of Belarus made the impossible possible: after three penalties at the 12.5 km mass start in Ruhpolding the world class biathlete was in the middle of the peloton and had a fantastic comeback. The audience of Ruhpolding saw a spectacular race of the probably actually fastest biathlete. Domracheva won by a margin of 16.5 seconds ahead of the German Preuss. Veronika Vitkova ended up on third place and was quite happy about it. The Czech was like Domracheva not able to remain flawless despite of very good weather conditions. She also had to cope with three failures. After the last standing the Czech could still release energy and fought her way to the podium. She said: "It was a successful week for me here in Ruhpolding. My shooting mistakes were careless, I didn´t believe to come on the podium. It was a fantastic audience." Domracheva also was impressed by the audience: "Both penalties were unnecessary. But soon I found my way back. The crowd here was great and helped me to win."
